Camping: Why Bring Lanterns

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

First time campers would normally ask why there is a need for camping lanterns when you already have flashlights. The answer is that the lanterns provide continuous light during the night. You can leave them on the ground or perch them up somewhere higher to provide light to a bigger area. The good thing about these lanterns is that they are powered up in different ways such as propane, battery, and kerosene. It is best that you choose the one that will work best with your lifestyle. Kerosene may be the most affordable but it can be noisy and they cannot be used inside the tent. Propane is safer than kerosene and a canister can provide you around 12 to 14 hours of light. The best lantern to be used inside the tent is the battery-operated type. Just make sure you bring extra batteries with you. Rechargeable batteries are highly recommended.

Sock Em Bop Em for Christmas!

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

My son just finished up with his Christmas list. He has been a really good boy this year, so as a result his Christmas list is huge. The first thing on his list is a sock em bop em. I have never heard of such a thing. I had to know what it was.

As it turns out, it is an inflatable punching bag. I never even knew that my son had an interest in boxing. This toy looks like a lot of fun, and it will keep him busy. All I have to do is add some air and fill the base with water, and he is ready to start throwing punches.

I am glad that my son is more active, Most kids just sit around and play video games all day long. This is not healthy. I would much rather get him a gift that will get him plenty of exercise.

Using a Bag for Outdoor Use

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

When you do outdoor activities, there are many things you may want to have with you, especially since some of the outdoor activities are far away from some of the things you may need if you do not have it with you. For example, if you are on a hiking trail and someone trips and scrapes their knee on a rock, then you could have a first aid kit in your backpack so you can treat minor injuries on the spot. If you did not have this item, then you would have to wait until the group gets to the bottom of the mountain to treat the wound. This will increase the likelihood of getting an infection. A Kelty Redwing 2650 is a backpack that can help you take everything you need for outdoor activities. It has plenty of room so you can take other things like extra water, a knife, towels and other things.

To start off with, be sure to warm up before departing with this new group, stay toward the back of the group and hold on as long as you can. The workouts will better resemble real road riding and you may find yourself riding harder than you would on the road alone. Lastly, determine your maximum heart rate, and do interval training at 85 percent of that max heart rate. Allow for equal rest or two times the rest compared to the interval duration. Monday, May 24th, 2010

The great outdoor is irresistible especially for teenagers and young people. I guess we grown-ups can still enjoy it with our loved ones though, these youngsters love to explore everything and it seems like they have an unending supply of energy to do it. My daughter loves to go to the beach, kayaking, water workouts and just about any water sports activities. You name it she likes it! It’s great to know that she’s involve on these things rather than drugs or alcohol. I, as a father, am concerned over her safety so I get the best gears for each of her activities. One of which is water aerobic shoes which she loves very dearly. They are so comfortable to wear and snug tight on both of her feet. She doesn’t need to mind her footwear whenever she’s out and doing her activities in water. These shoes are highly recommended to all water sports loving people out there!
